Your ceremony should sound like you, not a template pulled from a drawer. I work with every couple to write personalized vows and readings that reflect your story. Custom scripting is included with every ceremony — no extra charge.

What do you need to get married in the Charleston SC area?

The first step to getting married is you have to get a marriage license. You can get a license from any probate court and use it anywhere in the State of SC. Visit our website to find out about Charleston County Probate Court marriage applications.

Perhaps the easiest way to get your license right now is via the online application available through the Richland County Probate Court. No appointment is needed. And it’s cheaper!

After you get your license, then all you need is a Charleston wedding officiant to legalize the marriage and sign the paperwork. No witnesses are required in SC. You don’t even have to have a ceremony if you don’t wish. Just get the paperwork completed. We can help you complete your marriage in whatever way you wish.

If you decide you want a ceremony, then you need to think about what form your wedding vows should take. Whether you use sample vows from this website, create your own ceremony, or use a combination of the two, we can make it happen!

Charleston Area Beach Weddings

If you want to get married on the beach, the Charleston area has three beautiful options — all free for small ceremonies.

Isle of Palms beach does not charge for beachfront ceremonies, with wedding photography permitted under limited conditions.

Sullivan’s Island beach does not charge for beachfront ceremonies, but no commercial photography is permitted. You must make a request in writing via email to use the beach for a wedding.

Folly Beach does not charge for a beachfront ceremony, though a permit is required for more than 25 people.

No other commercial activity or alcohol is permitted on any of the beaches. Click on the beach links for more information.

The Charleston area also has many wonderful free land venues. We can come to your home or apartment as well.

If you are planning an event, parks require a permit applied for 14 days in advance. For an elopement or informal gathering you don’t need a permit.

Wedding Photography

Yes we are wedding officiants, but we are also wedding photographers. If you need dependable and reasonably priced wedding photography for your elopement or small wedding, give us a call. Our experience officiating over 4,000 couples gives us a special insight into telling your love story through pictures. Fees start at $225 and up depending on distance traveled.
