What do you need to get married in the Charleston SC area?

The first step to getting married is you have to get a marriage license. You can get a license from any probate court and use it anywhere in the State of SC. Charleston County Probate court has virtual applications available now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit our website to find about Charleston County Probate Court marriage applications.

Perhaps the easiest way to get your license right now is via the online application available through the Richland County Probate Court. No appointment is needed. And it’s cheaper!
 

After you get your license, then all you need is a Charleston wedding officiant to leagalize the marriage and sign the paperwork. No witnesses are required in SC. You don’t even have to have a ceremony if you don’t wish. Just get the paperwork completed. We can help you complete your marriage in whatever way you wish.

The Charleston area has many wonderful free venues. We can also come to your home or apartment.

If you are planning an event, then these and all the other parks require a permit. You have to apply 14 days in advance. For an elopement or informal gathering you don’t need a permit.

Charleston Area Beach Weddings

If you want to get married on the beach, there are three beaches available in the Charleston area. These are excellent free wedding venues.

Isle of Palms beach does not charge for beachfront ceremonies, with wedding photography permitted under limited conditions.

Sullivan’s Island beach does not charge for beachfront ceremonies, but no commercial photography is permitted. You must make a request in writing via email to use the beach for a wedding.

The Folly Beach does not charge for a beachfront ceremony, however, but a permit must be obtained for more than 25 people.

No other commercial activity or alcohol is permitted on any of the beaches. Click on the beach links for more information.

Charleston Wedding Officiant Pricing

Home or apartment wedding – $125 to $225 depending on location

Simple beach or park wedding – $125 to $225 depending on location

Large wedding with rehearsal – $250 and up depending on location

We think our prices are very competitive since many other Charleston wedding officiants charge $400 and up!

Wedding Photography

Yes we are wedding officiants, but we are also wedding photographers. If you need dependable and reasonably priced wedding photography for your elopement or small wedding, then give us call. We guarantee that we will be on time and in the frame for your special wedding ceremony. Our experience in celebrating the marriage of over 1000 couples gives us a special insight into telling your love story through pictures. We shoot the standard wedding picture shot list of course; family, ceremony, before and after. But we also try to capture the special, intimate moments that make your wedding day, a special day! So if you are in need of a wedding photographer for your special day, give us a call. Fees start at $225 and up depending on distance traveled. This is a real deal because most Charleston area wedding photographers charge $600 for the first 30 minutes.
